A global workspace celebrating diversity and solidarity

Did you know ?

The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the global voice of worker solidarity, now occupies 1,671 m² in the City Center building on Boulevard du Jardin Botanique, Brussels.

This centrally located office tower, with its luminous atriums, Art-Deco façade, and BREEAM “Excellent” rating , reflects ITUC’s commitment to visibility, transparency, and sustainability at the heart of Europe. SMILE designed a workplace called “Aux Quatre Coins du Monde”, where cultural diversity meets functionality and each continent finds its place

Designing connection across continents

SMILE created a culturally rich and inclusive workspace for ITUC, symbolizing global unity through distinct design zones inspired by four continents. The concept highlights ITUC’s mission to represent workers worldwide while honoring their diverse identities.

Concept

Uniting cultures, empowering voices worldwide

Behind every negotiation, every delegation, lies ITUC’s mission: to defend workers’ rights across borders. Our design makes that mission visible.

- Warm, earthy tones recall Africa’s strength and resilience.
- Dynamic contrasts capture the energy of the Americas.
- Fluid, balanced lines echo Asia’s sense of harmony.
- Timeless light reflects Europe’s tradition of democracy.

Private offices guarantee confidentiality for sensitive discussions, while shared lounges and meeting areas invite openness and exchange. This blend of privacy and inclusivity mirrors ITUC’s role: protecting workers while connecting them across the globe.

Testimonial

"I just wanted to say that we moved into the new offices today, and they are gorgeous. You did a great job—really fantastic. I love the space and what you have done with it, as I knew I would from our very first meeting—comfortable, spacious, modern, yet warm and welcoming. Thank you! Job well done!"
